Adam Raisner Foundation
Dr. Adam Raisner Foundation
Adam David Raisner, Age 43, of Newton, Massachusetts passed away peacefully with his family at his side on September 16, 2009, after suffering a ruptured brain aneurysm the previous Saturday. Adam is survived by his loving wife Anne (Tepper), and his wonderful sons Jonah & Nate. Adam was the beloved son of Elaine & Harvey Raisner of Avon, CT and son-in-law of Ruth & Ed Tepper of Granby, CT. He was a dear brother of Bruce & Carolyn Raisner, Beth & Michael Glass, and Lisa & Sam Schwarzwald. He also leaves many cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, including Fred and Myron Raisner and Sidney Richman. Adam graduated from Hall High School in West Hartford, CT in 1984 and Vassar College in 1988. He attended medical school at The Sackler School of Medicine in Tel Aviv, Israel from 1992-1996. He did his residency in internal medicine at Newton-Wellesley Hospital from 1996-1999. Adam practiced internal medicine in association with Mark Abensohn, M.D., in Medfield, MA from July 1999, until the time of his death. An accomplished athlete, Adam ran in marathons (including the Boston Marathon), rode in bike races, and regularly played basketball, soccer and tennis among other sports. In particular, his passion for baseball led him to attend Red Sox Fantasy Camp in 2005 where he played with former Red Sox greats. A music-lover, he played jazz trumpet for most of his life. Adam's Celebration of Life service will be held Tuesday, September 22, at 1 p.m. at Charter Oak Country Club, 15 Brent Dr., Hudson, MA. On Wednesday, September 23, the family will gather to welcome visitors at his Newton home from 3 to 8 p.m.
The Adam Raisner Foundation is being set up in Adam's memory in order to provide for the welfare of his wife and sons. In addition to losing Adam's love, affection and companionship, his family has lost their provider. The Foundation is being set up to make sure that his wife and sons do not have to bear the additional suffering of worrying about their financial well-being. It is expected that money raised by the Foundation will be used to support their needs, including Jonah and Nate’s education. We will be posting additional information here as the Foundation takes shape, the website for the Foundation is adamraisnerfoundation.org
For those that are willing to help, donations may be made to: "The Shepard Law Firm, P.C., in Trust for the Adam Raisner Foundation."
